What does "Chrysalis" mean?
Chrysalis is simply another word for cocoon. From the Greek language, it means a "protective sheath of spun gold". This chrysalis that a caterpillar spins around itself begins the process that transforms a wormy insect into a delicate, vibrant butterfly.
This name was chosen for my practice because of parallels between:
-
the purpose that a chrysalis serves for a developing butterfly and
-
the role of counseling in someone's personal development.
A chrysalis provides shelter and nourishment, similar to a womb for the life growing within it.
The sole purpose of the chrysalis is to protect and nurture the process of transformation.
